GEM AND JEWELLERY KNOWLEDGE WORKSHOP Our new one day workshop: held in the heart of the UK jewellery
industry in Hatton Garden, a day of handling gem-set jewellery, learning what to look for in quality and value in jewellery.
Ask questions – learn from specialists. Bring your own pieces (maximum 3 items) and know more!
Who would
benefit?
Consumers considering purchasing diamonds and gem-set jewels.
The day will cover the following
topics:
* Diamonds: how quality and price are judged- size is not everything! Round and other shapes; modern and antique
cuts.
* Coloured gems: overview of colour palate and gem varieties. There are more gems than ruby, sapphire and emerald!
We shall discover how quality and value are determined.
* Hallmarks: what they mean.
* How jewels are valued:
what to look for and methods to determine value.
These are hands-on sessions. Attendees will learn how to examine jewels
with a jeweller’s lens and handle a variety of gemstones and jewellery in a secure, comfortable environment under the
guidance of Eric Emms and Steven Jordan, who have been examining, handling, grading and valuing gems and jewellery for many
decades.
